EVENT ITINERARY
WHY IS THIS EVENT IMPORTANT?
This event will raise funds and awareness for wellness programs that can literally saves lives -- maybe even someone in your family. Funds raised and awareness generated will help MOM fulfill its' ultimate goal of helping to end cancer in our lifetime. Leading health associations agree that most cancers are preventable or treatable, but many people still don't know that and assume there's little they can do. Education, early detection and the practice of wellness are the keys to healthy living. Golf to End Cancer will assemble influencers and thought leaders who will become better equipped to spread the wellness message through their organizations and media relationships. The event benefits Marathon of Miracles, a nonprofit that my wife Jane and I started in 2006 to help cancer survivors, promote wellness and connect families that are battling cancer with resources that can help save lives. Jane is a breast cancer survivor and we've lost parents and other family members to numerous varieties of the disease. Like the guy who was throwing the starfish back into the ocean even though some questioned the effort, we believe that the work we do matters to each individual we touch.
MIRACLE WORKERS WILL BE HONORED
We are pleased to announce that are 2012 Miracle Worker Award Honorees are Victor and Lynne Brick, owners of the largest health club chain in Maryland. The Miracle Worker Award is the highest honor given by Marathon of Miracles to shine a spotlight on people who go above and beyond the call of duty to help in extraordinary ways with cancer treatment, prevention or care giving. The selection makes the Brick's only the third honoree in the history of the 6-year-old organization.
"What Victor and Lynne have done in fitness and wellness in general, as a shining example of a couple ministering to others, combined with Lynne's brave and victorious journey as a brain tumor survivor who is ‘paying it forward’ immeasurably and Victor's steadfast example of what it means to be both a dedicated husband and servant leader, makes it an easy decision for us to make them Miracle Worker Award Honorees,” said A.J. Ali, MOM Co-Founder. “They have been incredible supporters of wellness and they have always inspired Jane and me to keep moving forward through adversity.”
“We are honored to be named Miracle Worker Award honorees, Congratulations to AJ and Jane Ali and the Marathon of Miracles team for their hard work, service and dedication to help people fight cancer.” said Victor & Lynne Brick, Owner’s, Brick Bodies Fitness Services, Inc.
2011 Honorees included:
* Suzanne Lindley, cancer survivor and founder of YES (www.beatlivertumors.org), a nonprofit helping people with liver tumors. Suzanne has beaten cancer several times, is living with cancer, and has been responsible for many lives being saved because of her educational seminars, her providing people with access to treatments and her being a tireless advocate for funding and support for cancer patients.
* Eileen DeCesare, President/CEO Emeritus of Professional Healthcare Resources, is a 19-year Breast cancer Survivor. Eileen says "Cancer actually changed the course of my life and directed me to a more positive outlook in life. I have worked all these years to raise awareness about cancer to many people that I supported through their treatments. I will continue to do this the rest of my life."
